Mar17, Mon, 2p Hike ~ Powell Marsh ~ In search of the green.  We'll foray north to Powell Marsh near Lac Du Flambeau, leaving Rhinelander at 12:30pm, on Monday March 17th. Depending on snow conditions we can hike or snowshoe. There are several circular loops  to check out. If you would like to car pool, meet at the corner of K and 47 across  from the gas station or meet us at Powell Marsh at the north parking  area around 1:15. To get to the parking area take 47 north through DF  and watch for Powell Rd. to the right. Turn and cross the RR tracks,  stay straight when the road to Sandy Beach comes up and watch for a  parking area on the right. Apr 9, Wed, 6:30p SPEAKER: Glacier Park with Mary and Mark Stokstad ~ In May of 2007, Mary and Mark put dreams in action. They loaded bikes, kayaks, a dandy A-Frame, and good memories from summers' past at Glacier National Park and set out to be employees of the historical and majestic Many Glacier Hotel. From May through September, they worked 5 days a week, then used every spare minute on day 6 and 7 hiking, paddling and biking. Bears (oh yes!), moose, and other animals do their best to share with the humans. Come hear M&M share their wonderful stories about new friends, and vistas of supreme beauty. Sep 22, Sat, 10:30a Hike the Fallison Lk Trail w/ a little bike trip thrown in through pretty woods towards Sayner. At 10:30a, meet at the Fallison Lake parking lot (off of N across from Crystal Lake).  Bring water for the hike, about 2 miles with up and down terrain. Then we can cross N (cars need a state sticker, (I think)) to Crystal Lake picnic area for some lunch.  Pack your own, bring something to share if you wish.  For those who want more, after a leisurely lunch we will bike to Plum Lake Campground picnic area (just shy of Sayner), about 5 miles, and return.  (The trail does run to Trout Lake and Boulder Junction so the ambitious (not me) may want to bike more.)  Any interested afterwards may head to the Sayner Pub for pizza and/or brewski. S Rhinelander Whitewater Trail releases - link

S Low water conditions in the Upper Wisconsin Watershed prohibit recreational releases for 2006. New releases will be scheduled when normal levels return to the Rainbow Flowage. For info write Scott at watsons@newnorth.net.
May 20, Sat, 10:30a Nat'l River Clean-up, Whirlpool Rapids island and Menard island of the Wisconsin River. With Treehaven as a partner, NPT will meet at Camp 10 landing, float to the islands, collecting trash from the river, along the banks, and on the islands. Plan lunch and a good time. Mark S 282-6631
